Advanced LT-SOFC Based on Reconstruction of the Energy Band Structure of the LiNi_0.8Co_0.15Al_0.05O₂–Sm_0.2Ce_0.8O_2-? Heterostructure for Fast Ionic Transport

Formation of a heterostructure semiconductor materials is promising method to develop an electrolyte with high ionic conductivity at low operational temperature solid oxide fuel cells (LT-SOFCs). Herein, we various composites by introducing pure conductor Sm0.2Ce0.8O2-? (SDC) into LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2 (LNCA) for LT-SOFCs electrolyte. The morphology, crystal structure, elemental distribution, micro-structure, and oxidation states the composite LNCA–SDC are analyzed studied via X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), resolution-transmission (HR-TEM), energy dispersive spectrometry, photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electrochemical studies found that optimal weight ratio 0.5 LNCA-1.5 SDC exhibits relatively (0.12 S cm–1 520 °C), which much higher than SDC. designed LNCA-SDC heterostructures (0.5:1.5) delivers remarkable cell power output 0.735 W cm–2 °C. formation reconstruction bands interface play crucial roles in enhancing conduction improve electrochemical performance. prepared unique insightful strategy advanced LT-SOFCs.
